 The Opportunity

The Kids have an overarching commitment to address the inequity of the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and families.

 Our Healthy Skin team play an important role in achieving this vision with a wide range of projects that discover, treat and prevent infectious diseases, with a focus on the health of kids and families in Aboriginal communities.

The Healthy Skin team is looking for a casual Aboriginal Research Assistant to join several exciting projects in the Boorloo (Perth) and surrounding area!

In your role, you will provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health projects and other skin health projects by assisting with the development of resources, health promotion activities, and building positive relationships with external stakeholders and community.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of culturally safe brochures, social media content, activities and other forms of health promotion.
  • Assisting the project team to conduct community engagement and consultation activities.
  • Recruiting participants to take part in research.
  • Supporting the development of project reports.
  • Contributing to sharing research outcomes.

This position will be offered on a casual basis, working approximately 10 to 20 hours per week with flexibility in days and times, and will be based at our office in Nedlands.

About You

This is a great opportunity if you are looking to develop your research skills in a supportive environment, and have the following skills and experiences:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Proven time management abilities.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Strong interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Child Health Research.
  • Good organisational skills, flexibility and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Knowledge of or an interest in learning about skin health.
  • Willingness to undertake travel in the metropolitan area.
