Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager Contracts and Controls, the Project Services and Controls Manager is responsible for evolving SQE’s delivery model by enabling visibility and control of key project metrics from origination to commissioning. This role will provide project managers and sponsors with cost, schedule, risk, change, and document control tools tailored to the organisation’s maturity. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, time, and budget constraints. Role will provide functional oversight and guidance to Project Controls, Schedule and Risk Team members across the Squadron Energy Portfolio to ensure compliance with the Policies and Procedures and overall delivery of the services to Projects.
This role may involve travel to other office locations and sites to engage and liaise with broader Squadron Energy (SQE) teams and relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Develop cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts in alignment with capital approval processes.
Build and maintain integrated schedules to track delivery performance and manage interfaces.
Maintain document control systems for versioning, traceability, and controlled artefacts.
Manage risk and issue registers to surface early challenges and mitigation strategies.
Administer change control processes to maintain alignment of scope, cost, and schedule.
Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement project control procedures and tools to enhance project delivery.
Monitor SQE project progress and performance, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Ensure effective communication and coordination between project teams and other business units.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on project status, risks, and issues.
Manage and lead the work of a team; provide motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development; manage any underperformance issues if required in consultation with People and Culture; actively monitor leave requests of team.
Skills and experience
Experience and knowledge
Extensive experience in project controls, including cost estimation, scheduling, risk management, and document control.
Strong background in managing complex projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Extensive experience in change and risk control methods for complex, multi-scope delivery.
In-depth understanding of industry standards and best practices in project services, controls and management.
Proficiency in project management and control software tools.
Qualifications / Tickets / Other
Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
Current Driver’s Licence.
