About the Department
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to the court by performing specialized clerical duties, providing professional customer service, management of court records and processing documents consistent with legal requirements. This position requires the application of considerable knowledge of the courts and general office practices and procedures.
The nature of the work performed by this class is highly confidential and is performed within established procedures and under general direction; however, incumbents complete tasks independently and apply established guidelines and alternatives to make judgments and decisions.
Position Duties

- Assists in the work of the Municipal Court in accordance with the laws of Washington State and the City ordinances; maintains confidentiality of court records and proceedings.
- Provides professional customer service through all interactions. Supports the relationship between the City of Marysville and the customer by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, attorneys and other City staff.
- Schedules a variety of court hearings, prepares associated documents, such as notices, calendars, subpoenas, warrants, attorney vouchers, juror information sheets and other documents as required.
- Clerks court sessions, records all proceedings; maintains recording logs, marks exhibits and processes orders for the court. Ensures accurate and timely case flow management.
- Maintains accurate and complete records making required docket entries.
- Creates accounts receivable and sets payment agreements in accordance with court orders, procedures and jurisdiction. Monitors payments and takes appropriate action for delinquent accounts in accordance with court procedures and policies.
- Responsible for receipting on a daily basis, reconciling payments for accounts receivables and balances cash drawer at the end of the day. Researches complex account payment history to determine accuracy of accounts. Makes accounts receivable corrections when ordered by the court.
- Performs filing of all citations, documents and case related correspondence. Constructs new case files.
- Processes and forwards dispositions and orders to the Department of Licensing and other appropriate agencies.
- Reviews reports for compliance.
- Supports Probation Officer with administrative tasks related to probation cases.
- Coordinates jury management and acts as a liaison for jurors.
- Screens and assigns individuals for indigent defense counsel.
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Experience:
- Two years of experience providing services to customers.
- One year of experience in the legal field or court setting.
Education and Training:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
