About the Role:

The CDL Driver position is a critical role within the construction industry, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of construction materials, equipment, and supplies to various job sites. This role ensures that all deliveries are made on time, supporting the overall project schedule and operational efficiency. The driver will operate commercial vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining a strong focus on safety and vehicle maintenance. Effective communication with dispatchers, site managers, and other team members is essential to coordinate deliveries and address any logistical challenges. Ultimately, the CDL Driver contributes to the successful completion of construction projects by ensuring materials are delivered accurately and punctually.

Pay Range: $30-$35/HR DOE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with appropriate endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating commercial vehicles, preferably in the construction or related industry.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screening.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience driving in the Sterling, VA area or similar construction environments.
  • Familiarity with GPS and route planning software.
  • Previous experience handling heavy or oversized loads.
  • Additional endorsements such as Hazmat or Tanker.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle repairs and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate commercial vehicles to transport construction materials and equipment to designated job sites safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while driving and handling cargo.
  • Coordinate with dispatchers and site supervisors to plan routes and delivery schedules, adjusting as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Load and unload materials as required, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays encountered during transport.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to report any issues or changes in delivery plans.
