Position Overview:
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel - Operations will provide legal and business advice over a broad range of areas to help drive the company’s fast growth. This role involves providing strategic legal guidance to the executive leadership, senior management, and operational units of the company on a wide range of issues, including corporate compliance and governance, litigation, payor disputes, out-of-network arbitrations, data privacy, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have extensive in-house experience within the healthcare sector and a proven track record of managing complex legal matters.
Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities:- Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of contracts, including vendor agreements, SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, and customer contracts, safeguarding the company's interests and ensuring clarity of terms.
- Provide diligence review and legal advice on business development initiatives.
- Draft, modify, or update, as needed, the company’s arbitration position statements.
- Establish and maintain standardized contract templates and processes to streamline operations and reduce legal risks.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize legal risks facing the company, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies to protect the organization's assets and reputation.
- Assist in the management of all litigation, including discovery, or disputes involving the company, coordinating with external counsel as necessary to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Provide expert counsel on global compliance issues, including data privacy, anti- corruption, sanctions, and third-party risk management, ensuring the company's international operations comply with all relevant regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, providing legal insights that facilitate informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Additional duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications:Experience & Qualifications- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state.
- 5 to 10 years of legal experience, preferably with several years in a senior in-house counsel role within the healthcare sector.
- Strong knowledge of managed care, including health plan operations and payor-provider disputes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong business acumen with the ambition to contribute broadly across the business.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and model best practices.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and other relevant compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and provide strategic guidance to executive leadership.
