A bar prep’s main responsibility is to set up the bar team for a successful shift. They will be responsible for batching all specialty cocktails, making all syrups and shrubs, and following recipes provided by the Management Team. The bar prep will be responsible for garnishes, following par levels, and quality control on all produce and batches. You will need to follow health department sanitary guidelines to ensure quality and consistency are being met. You will be also responsible for receiving and storing liquor and produce whenever needed. This position needs a great amount of organization and efficiency skills in order to meet daily deadlines.
Due to the nature of our business, this position is required to work weekends and holidays.
The day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Attends all restaurant required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Groot hospitality standards.
- Full time availability with early morning shifts.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform.
- Follows food safety and sanitary guidelines issued by the Health Department.
- Creates and complete assigned prep list in allocated timeframe.
- Fills out daily produce ordering sheet.
- Must know and follow all specialty cocktails, syrups, shrubs, and reductions recipes.
- Follow standing procedures for barrel aging cocktails.
- Need to follow proper curating barrel procedures.
- Needs to prepare all garnishes following quality provided by the Bar Manager.
- Checks on validation for perishables items.
- Follow FIFO procedure.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the bar, refrigerators, and service areas of the prep area in an organized manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position
- Fluent in English
- Basic spirit knowledge
- Basic culinary knowledge
- Ability to cross train in another position
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Attention to detail, cleanliness and safety
- Patience and customer-oriented approach
- Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude

Physical Requirements:
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to be mobile for a minimum of 8 hours
