Job Summary:
Reporting to the Academic Division Chair, the Director, Center for Cyber Security Education and Research is
responsible for overseeing Computer Science academic programs and faculty, while also developing and
expanding the Center for Cyber Security Education and Research.
Essential Job Functions:
• Coordinating with institutional and community stakeholders to plan and implement cybersecurity related
workshops, training opportunities, and bootcamps
• Assisting in the maintenance of the cyberoperations program curriculum.
• Assisting in the application for and maintenance of special designation status for the cyberoperations
program.
• Ensuring cybersecurity offerings align with current government and industry trends.
• Communicating with other institutions, government, and industry for cybersecurity related collaboration and
funding opportunities.
• Applying for and maintaining cybersecurity related grant and revenue generating opportunities.
• Overseeing cybersecurity related research efforts.
• Developing and executing curricular, extracurricular, and research opportunities to engage students.
• Develop internship pipelines, career pathways, and applied learning opportunities for students.
• Securing NSA CAE-CD designation within three years.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies (e.g., NSA, DHS), private industry, and other
academic institutions.
• Represent the Center in regional and national cybersecurity forums, consortia, and advisory boards.
• Overseeing virtual cybersecurity labs and simulations.
• Support student success through mentorship, academic advising, and career readiness initiatives.
• Facilitate faculty development in cybersecurity pedagogy and scholarship.
• Manage the Center’s day-to-day operations, including staffing, budgeting, and reporting.
• Supervision as assigned within the program.
• Others duties as assigned.
Leadership and Management:
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the academic department, aligning its goals with the institution's overall
mission and objectives.
• Plan, organize, and manage departmental activities, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and faculty
assignments.
• Supervise and evaluate departmental faculty and staff, promoting professional development and ensuring highquality teaching and research.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive departmental culture, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a positive
working environment.
Academic Program Oversight:
• Develop and review academic programs and courses, ensuring their alignment with industry standards and
accreditation requirements.
• Monitor and assess program outcomes and student learning to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with
institutional goals.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in the field, integrating them into the curriculum to ensure its
relevance and currency.
Budget and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage the departmental budget, making strategic decisions to optimize resource allocation and
maximize efficiency.
• Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support departmental initiatives and
enhance resources.
• Ensure proper utilization of departmental resources, facilities, and equipment, promoting their maintenance and
upgrade as required.
Faculty and Staff Development:
• Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified faculty and staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet program and
course demands.
• Provide mentoring, guidance, and support to faculty and staff, promoting their professional growth and development.
• Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service, encouraging faculty and staff to engage in scholarly
activities and pursue professional advancement.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with other departments, academic units, and stakeholders within the institution to promote
interdisciplinary initiatives, joint research, and shared resources.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, industry professionals, and community organizations to
enhance collaboration and promote opportunities for students and faculty.
• Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and events, advocating for its interests and promoting its
achievements.
Teaching Load:
• The teaching load is as needed, but not to exceed 3 hours per semester, including summer (not to exceed 9
hours per academic year).
Other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience
• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or related field required from accredited institution of
higher learning; Ph.D. preferred in relevant discipline.
• Significant professional experience preferred (3-5 yrs.).
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with publishing and/or presenting research preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience developing cybersecurity content preferred.
• Cybersecurity credentials and/or certificates preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations
• Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), which normally includes at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in
the subject area or suitable approved justifications.

Physical Demands
• Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and
carrying. Specific vision abilities include the ability to use close vision. The employee is regularly required to
talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
