WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The ideal Vehicle Maintenance Manager for Bear Creek is a guest service focused individual responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of the resort's entire fleet, including snowcats (groomers), snowmobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, and other utility and service vehicles. This role ensures vehicles are operational, safe, and compliant with all applicable regulations to support daily mountain operations, snowmaking, grooming, transportation, and emergency response. This position will be an important member of the Vehicle Maintenance team, working individually and with the team to create a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests by ensuring equipment operates safely when needed and managing the assets.

Fleet Maintenance & Operations:
- Supervise and perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all resort vehicles, including snowcats, snowmobiles, plow trucks, heavy machinery, and utility vehicles.
- Develop and manage a proactive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety, emissions, and operating standards as set by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Record and document all repairs completed. Track and record all warranty work that has been completed.
- Coordinate snowcat readiness for grooming operations and work closely with grooming and snowmaking teams to ensure operational needs are met.
Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead a vehicle maintenance team; assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure quality workmanship.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff with a focus on safety, diagnostics, mechanical skills, and efficient work practices.
- Foster a safe, organized, and efficient working environment within the vehicle maintenance shop and yard.
Inventory, Parts & Budgeting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, repairs, and inspections.
- Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; coordinate purchasing with vendors to ensure timely availability.
- Assist with the development and oversight of the vehicle maintenance department budget.
- Track fuel usage and assist with fueling infrastructure, deliveries, and fuel conservation efforts.
Safety & Compliance:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintain logs to ensure all vehicles are compliant with OSHA, DOT, and resort safety policies.
- Lead and enforce safety protocols in the shop and around equipment, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazard communication.
- Support emergency vehicle needs and ensure readiness of backup equipment.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Work closely with all resort departments (snowmaking, grooming, patrol, terrain park, lift maintenance, etc.) to ensure vehicle needs are met.
- Provide timely updates on vehicle status, repairs, and equipment availability.
- Communicate effectively with the Mountain Operations Director regarding fleet performance, needs, and strategic improvements.

- Acknowledge all guests and respond promptly to their needs, however busy and whatever time of day. Ensure unresolved incidents are reported to Manager/Supervisor
- Familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- Contribute to the team's success by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed
- Maintain knowledge and compliance with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
- Work as a team member to ensure our guests have the best possible experience
- Understand emergency procedures and be able to apply them when necessary
- Report any incidents, property damage or injuries immediately to Manager/Supervisor
- Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary
- Other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor
