PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Perform RTK GPS boundary mapping, prepares machine setup files for FS equipment, works closely with Data Management Specialist and Operations personnel, provide technical support to FS agronomy locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
Develops RTK mapping strategy and performs RTK GPS mapping functions
Utilizes UTV to gather RTK data, developing field boundaries and analytics
Document location information to maintain accuracy, returns information to designated company location equipment for application
Serves as the information link between Data Management Specialist and Agronomy Operations and serves as a contact person on all matters relating to precision farming
Responsible for the transferring and updating of field information between all mapping platforms (example Agvance Sky Mapping, MyJD Ops Center)
Create precision setup data files and import into location machines
Drives company vehicle, with trailer in tow, to designated customer crop field locations for boundary mapping and grid soil sampling
Assist in training, troubleshooting, and provide technical support to FS agronomy operations personnel
Attends/participates in scheduled technical training sessions and meetings
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs crop scouting duties for producer acres based on workload or seasonal demands
Gathers grid soil sampling service order requests from the Data Management Specialists during fall and spring
Utilizes GPS technology and field maps to manually collect grid soil samples using a soil probe
Ensures grid soil test samples get to location for pickup by soil testing lab
May periodically delivery soil tests directly to soil lab
Maintain knowledge of current and new technology in Precision Farming
Attends all meetings, trainings and seminars as assigned
Assist DVS Team with special projects
Performs all other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires an associate degree in an agriculture or the equivalent thereof, and 1-2 years or more of related work experience in GIS/GPS to demonstrate knowledge of precision technology.
Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant
Occasionally exposed to:
- Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
- Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
- May be required to work at varying heights
- Lift 21-50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
