Lead Teacher, Harris Family Children's Center (Infant Classroom)
SCHEDULE: Full time, year round, Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 5:30pm. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose
Assists management and teachers to create a warm and caring environment for young children. The lead teacher plans and implements a well-rounded curriculum that meets the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of each child.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and implements age appropriate, well-rounded curriculum including daily, weekly and yearly lesson plans that will follow center protocol and meet the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of each child.
- Oversees management of classroom operation.
- Supports the teaching team and the childcare center activities in a timely, caring and professional manner.
- Communicates routinely with parents regarding their child’s activities during the day.
- In charge of record keeping, progress reports and parent conferences.
- Documents individual child’s cognitive and physical development and makes recommendations for future placement.
- Responsible for State mandated compliance to include attendance, accident and injury reports and notification to parents.
- Plays key role in HFCC Incident Response Team.
- Reviews children’s assessments with director and families.
- Communicates weekly curriculum. Plans field trips in accordance with the curriculum.
- Plans and implements weekly enrichment programs with ESSO student volunteers.
- Supervises all activities indoors and out in order to ensure the safety and the well-being of each child.
- Assists in the maintenance of materials to ensure a clean and orderly classroom.
- Resolves problems or concerns that may arise with children or parents with the Director.
- Interacts with children in a warm, nurturing way while providing an appropriate adult role model.
- Models, articulates and encourages cooperative behavior among the children.
- Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.
- Consults with Director regarding health and well-being of children and concerns raised by teachers.
- Organizes publication of Center newsletter.
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings, teacher in-service days and recurring training seminars.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Education
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree with at least 9 credits in early childhood education/development, including at least one three- credit course in child growth and development. 18 credits in early childhood education/development, preferred.
- Must have CPR, First Aid, AED and Water Safety training or be willing to obtain certification.
Experience
- At least three (3) years working with infants and young children preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience in an institutional or campus setting
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift children in carriers and push/pull heavy strollers and wagons as well as stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Successfully complete additional components required for DHHS, Childcare Licensing Unit: Upon hire and renewed every 5 years
