The Home Health Aide will apply knowledge-based practices independently while working in collaboration with the client(s) and other home care professionals, to promote independent living of our clients. The successful candidate will assist and provide services for Home and Community Care under the Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative (ADI) program for LLRIB community members. You will be working in the homes of our clients in collaboration with the Diabetes Nurse Educator. You will assist with organizing and hosting community wellness events.

Key Responsibilities:
- Will be required to monitor blood sugar, provide teaching related to diabetes & order/deliver diabetes related supplies;
- Use skills & interventions to meet physical, social/cultural, emotional & spiritual needs to the clients;
- Apply a knowledge-based Home Health Aide practice independently & in collaboration with the client & other health care professionals to promote independent living of clients;
- Working 5 days per week/7.5 hours per day
Education:
- Home Health Aide or Continuing Care Aide Certificate preferred, or combination of educations & experience may be considered
Experience:
- Pervious Home Care or Acute Care experience is an asset
Licenses:
- First Aid/CPR Training Certifications is an asset &/or willing to learn
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Competencies:
- Organizational skills
- Strong computer skills
Knowledge and Abilities
- Must be able to work independently & collaboratively with the Home Care Team
- Must be self-directed
- Ability to speak or understand Cree is an asset
Other Information
- A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Screening and Driver’s Abstract is required upon hire. Since this position is engaged primarily in serving the interests of Aboriginal people, Lac La Ronge Indian Band shall give preference to Aboriginal people who possess the requisite skill sets and experience.
