POSITION SUMMARY

School nursing practice requires the combination of professional clinical nursing practice with promotion of the health, well-being, academic achievement, and success of the school-age child. The school APRNs and RNs are called upon to work closely with teachers, classroom assistants, office personnel, and technically advise the school health aide (SHA) to carry out a wide range of school health activities. The Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) is responsible for establishing and maintaining the clinical practice standards and providing professional development to the Hawaii Keiki APRNs, RNs, and HTs.  In this leadership position, the DCO establishes clinical processes and procedures, monitors the quality of clinical services, trains, technically advises, mentors and supports Hawaii Keiki RNs and APRNs.  The DCO will also serve as clinical representation of Hawaii Keiki nurses to community stakeholder meetings. The DCO will also maintain adjunct faculty status with the UH Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH) and upon request work in collaboration with SONDH on preparing our future healthcare providers for success upon their graduation.

Full-Time Mon-Fri 8am – 5pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training/Experience:

  • A graduate degree in nursing and/or license as an APRN in Hawai'i.
  • Possession of a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Hawai'i. 
  • BLS/ Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Possession of an APRN license with prescription authority in the State of Hawai'i.
  • One year of experience in school nursing/health. 
  • One year of leadership experience in healthcare. 

Skills Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of state medical information release procedures and laws.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules, regulations, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations for blood borne pathogens.
