Position: Third Grade Classroom teacher
Job Summary: The successful candidate will hold students to high academic expectations and believe all children can achieve them. Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of the CT Core Standards and the pedagogical and assessment practices supporting successful student attainment of expected learning outcomes. A strong understanding of literacy, numeracy development, and data collection in these areas is essential: the candidate must be able to apply tiered intervention strategies as a part of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). The successful candidate must be a strong collaborator who can articulate how they will contribute to a positive and energized school climate and culture, including caring for the social, emotional, and academic needs of every learner. A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview and selection process.
About Us: North Canaan Elementary School is a PreK-8 elementary school in rural Northwest Connecticut and is part of the Region One School District. Our class sizes are small, and we believe that all students can achieve a very high level of learning. Our current school enrollment is 249.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with CT Certification 305 (Elementary, grades 1-6) or other applicable certificate
Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area
Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students
Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion
