About the Department
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for a Sexual Violence Prevention Educator - 9 month position at the Indiana main campus.
This position will be responsible for providing education and raising awareness about sexual violence including sexual assault, interpersonal violence, stalking, and bystander awareness and sexual wellness to IUP undergraduate and graduate students.
This is a nine (9) month position (from mid-late August through mid-late May each year).ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Program Leadership & Development
- Lead campus-wide sexual violence prevention efforts, including sexual assault, stalking, dating/domestic violence, and related issues.
- Develop, implement, and assess sexual wellness initiatives, including STI prevention, pregnancy prevention, safer sex practices, and healthy relationships.
- Coordinate and manage the university’s bystander intervention program, including ongoing training, promotion, and evaluation.
- Training & Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise peer educators, graduate assistants, practicum students, and interns.
- Provide professional development, mentorship, and ongoing support to student leaders to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Facilitate workshops, trainings, and classroom presentations on sexual violence prevention, consent, healthy relationships, and sexual wellness.
- Work closely with campus partners (e.g., Title IX, Student Affairs, Counseling Center, Health Services, Athletics, Residence Life) to coordinate prevention and wellness initiatives.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local and regional community organizations to strengthen referral networks, resources, and prevention strategies.
- Data Collection, Assessment & Evaluation
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to prevention and wellness initiatives, including participation rates, knowledge gains, and campus climate.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and implement improvements based on data and student feedback.
- Contribute to grant reporting and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements (e.g., Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA).
- Education & Awareness Campaigns
- Develop and implement awareness campaigns related to sexual violence prevention and sexual wellness.
- Create and distribute educational materials (print, digital, social media) tailored to the needs of the college student population.
- Coordinate and lead campus-wide events during awareness months (e.g., Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month).
- Professionalism & Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with best practices, research, and evidence-based approaches in sexual violence prevention and sexual wellness.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training to strengthen prevention and education strategies.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethical practice and cultural humility in all programming and supervision.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday
8:00am - 4:30pm
This position is posted in accordance with the (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Unit.
Position Duties
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, public relations or a related field.
- Experience in health education or a related field with a focus on sexual violence prevention education and sexual wellness for college aged students. (Volunteer or nonprofit experience in this field may be considered for this requirement.)
- Supervision experience which could include supervision of staff, volunteers, or college aged students.
PREFERRED:
- Master's degree in public health, health education, public relations, or related field preferred
- Certification as a College Health Education Specialist, or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience in a college or university setting preferred
- Knowledge of Title IX and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) regulations preferred
- Proficient in a variety of computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva) preferred
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Minimum Qualifications
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
- Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
- Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
- Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
- Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
- Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
- Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
