As a Community Services Officer I (Report Taker), you’ll play a key role in supporting the Pomona Police Department by assisting with traffic collisions, preparing detailed reports, collecting evidence, and providing excellent service to the public. The City of Pomona currently has a Community Services Officer I – Report Taker vacancy for a qualified individual eager to contribute to a positive, community-oriented team. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of administrative and non-emergency field duties. Candidates must be available to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
As staffing needs evolve, this flexible classification may also support other areas of the Police Department, such as Community Crime Prevention, Front Desk Operations, Subpoena Service, Dispatch Call Taker, Court Filing, and Uniforms and Equipment. Position Duties
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalency. Additional course work in business practices is desirable.
- One year of responsible general office clerical work experience. Prior police department experience is desirable.
- Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license.
- Possession of, or must obtain within six months of hire, a NCIC Telecommunication Certificate.
- Possession of, or must obtain within six months of hire, CPR and First Aid Certificates.

Minimum Qualifications
- Respond to and investigate traffic collisions or other incidents occurring within City jurisdiction.
- Write police reports.
- Testify in court.
- Collect and store evidence.
- Perform traffic control.
- Enforce parking violations.
- Mark, store, or impound abandoned vehicles as authorized by law.
- Assist the public in non-hazardous situations.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Assist Police Officers as required or directed.
- Summon appropriate assistance for those events beyond the scope of position.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
