Pound Keeper (Part-Time) at City of East Providence

CITY OF EAST PROVIDENCE

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

PART-TIME POUND KEEPER POSITION

$17 per hour 

No benefits

Approximately 19 hours per week

Part time person needed to maintain the animal shelter in a clean and orderly condition.  Seeking a mature, dependable person to assist at the Animal Control shelter.   Works closely with pound staff to help facilitate the adoption of animals in the pound. Conducts adoptions and reviews applications for approval. Ability to provide treatment, as directed by a veterinarian, to sick or injured impounded animals. Performs other related duties as required.

General Responsibilities:

(Included not limited to the following) 

• Feeding and watering all the animals
• Cleaning and disinfecting runs and cages
• Washing all areas of the facility
• Removing rubbish, 
• Replenishing and maintaining stock, and general housekeeping.  . 

Requirements: 

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Previous experience handling animals and cleaning facilities
• Candidate will be required to pass a BCI (background investigation)
• Candidate is required to pass a physical, back & drug screen

Desired Abilities:

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors and positively with the public
