This position can be located at any of our MN, CO, OK, or TX offices. 

 
What you will do: 

Leadership & Team Development 

• Lead a multidisciplinary GIS technical team, guiding solution architects, developers, and senior specialists to deliver innovative GIS solutions
• Manage escalated technical issues and provide direction for complex project challenges
• Foster a collaborative team culture that encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning
• Coordinate with other managers and groups across WSB to align technical resources, share expertise, and support integrated solutions.

Technical Leadership & Delivery 

• Lead enterprise-scale GIS implementations, aligning technical solutions with client and organizational goals.
• Serve as a senior technical resource, actively contributing to the design, configuration, and delivery of GIS solutions
• Provide thought leadership in geospatial technologies, guiding the evolution of WSB’s GIS service offerings
• Balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical delivery

Business Development & Client Engagement 

• Support business development by scoping technical solutions, estimating effort, and contributing to proposals and client presentations
• Partner with GIS Managers, Developers, and other WSB leaders to integrate GIS solutions with enterprise systems, applications, and client platforms
• Represent WSB in the geospatial community, building relationships with technology partners and staying ahead of industry trends
• Cultivate strong client relationships by serving as a trusted technical advisor who can connect strategy to implementation.

What you will bring: 

Education & Experience 

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Mathematics, or Technical Science (e.g., Engineering)
• 7+ years of professional GIS experience, including enterprise solution delivery
• 2+ years experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams that include GIS developers, architects, and analysts
• Cloud experience in Azure and/or AWS required

Technical Expertise 

• Proven expertise in Esri’s ArcGIS platform (Enterprise, Online, and associated APIs), with hands-on experience leading enterprise GIS deployments
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data management, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and enterprise geodatabases
• Familiarity with systems integration (e.g., CAD, asset management, IoT, field mobility, or cloud-hosted platforms)
• Demonstrated experience deploying and managing GIS in cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS), including cloud-native services, scalability, and security best practices
• A track record of driving innovation and identifying opportunities to expand geospatial capabilities through cloud, AI/ML, or automation

Leadership & Business Skills 

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, establish standards, and deliver enterprise-scale GIS solutions
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align technical solutions to client needs and drive revenue growth
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with project management, agile delivery practices, and cross-disciplinary team coordination

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master’s degree in relevant field
• Professional services, consulting, or engineering industry experience
• Advanced knowledge of Esri’s enterprise information models and extensions (ArcGIS Utility Network, Pipeline Referencing, Indoors, Roads & Highways, etc.)
• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise in cloud-native or hybrid environments
• Professional cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or AWS Solutions Architect
• Experience developing new GIS service lines and solutions to meet evolving client needs and drive business growth
