Position Objective:

The staff assists the Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab Coordinators with the daily operations of Cardiopulmonary Rehab to ensure the cardiopulmonary program provides high quality care and excellent customer services in accordance with the federal regulations and standards.

 Essential Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient, identifies his/her Respiratory Diagnosis and needs of patient
  • Assists with the development and prepares exercise prescription, develops and implements the individual treatment plan in collaboration with the Physician
  • Collects outcome data and reports this information
  • Evaluate and modifies ITP as needed to meet goals (in collaboration with the Physician)
  • Recognizes and attends to the psychosocial and developmental growth needs of patients and those significant to the patient
  • Performs new patient orientation and assessment
  • Leads patient in strength training and warm up exercises
  • Guides patients in exercise progression
  • Communicates with patients provider as needed or required 
  • Leads and able to provide education classes in pulmonary rehab 
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings
    • Demonstrates ability to use equipment relevant to the position
    • Assists with cardiac rehab program as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist CEP by the ACSM or Certified as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the ACSM (RCEP)
  • BLS/ACLS Certified   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Advance knowledge of exercise physiology, pulmonary anatomy and pathophysiology, nutrition, respiratory medications and proper use, health coaching/counseling techniques as defined in the AACVPR core competencies position statement
