Oversees and directs human resources activities for department personnel, faculty, staff, post-doctoral students, graduate students, and undergraduate students/work study. Acts as consultant to managers for personnel related functions. Ensures personnel utilization is carried out in accordance with department, school, and University policies and enforces departmental systems and procedures. Performs administrative functions.
The incumbent will provide confidential operational support to Department administrators, faculty, and managers to process all personnel-related actions in order to manage the growth and development of the Department. The incumbent will contribute to the overall operational performance of the Department, including the compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory agencies. The incumbent manages daily administrative operations by interpreting and explaining ideas and concepts as well as solving problems and coordinating projects; handles difficult and complex situations with tact, dignity and respect. The incumbent is responsible for managing all functions of the departmental human resources office, develop departmental HR policies and procedures within the established parameters of university policy, oversee administrative staff in tasks related to daily office operations, and work in conjunction with the Director of Research and Academic Operations and Executive Administrator to facilitate changes associated with multiple budgets related to operations and Human Resources including authorizing and reviewing expenditures related to HR actions.
Additionally, the incumbent provides operational support to the Director of Research and Academic Operations, including actively assessing and implementing work processes utilizing principles by clearly understanding the value internal and external customers expect for products and services, as well as innovating value and flow of services to customers. Must be highly self-motivated, well-organized, flexible, able to maintain and prioritize many concurrent projects, and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including members of management both internal and external to the University including directors, deans, and department heads. Ensure that all university policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed and communicated within the department. Requires a high degree of time management, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
