Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) Travel Position
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Nights
Pay: $2,318.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Richmond, VA. This position is within the Maternal Infant Unit (MIU), a 24-bed department providing comprehensive care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, as well as newborns.

The L&D RN will play a key role in assisting with labor and delivery, supporting postpartum recovery, and ensuring the health and safety of both mother and infant. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with a strong background in high-volume labor units who thrives in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care and monitoring for patients during all stages of labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
  • Manage fetal and maternal assessments using GE fetal monitoring systems.
  • Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and best practices.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and epidural support as prescribed.
  • Monitor newborns and provide immediate postnatal care and education to new mothers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech/CPN EMR systems.
  • Collaborate closely with nursery nurses, OB techs, and other members of the care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and participate in neonatal resuscitation when required.
  • Support an environment of safety, compassion, and respect for patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent labor and delivery experience (required).
  • Experience in LDRP and high birth-volume settings strongly preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certifications (required).
  • Proficiency with GE fetal monitoring systems and Meditech EMR.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle high-acuity cases and respond effectively in emergent situations.
