Purpose of the Role
As we set our eyes on Lending, we are looking for a highly motivated Lending and Collections Manager to establish and lead Zego’s new credit function. This is a unique opportunity to design and implement our credit team from the ground up, enabling growth while managing risk across our lending and premium financing operations. You’ll work closely with Finance, Risk, Product, and Operations teams to build scalable processes, policies, and systems that ensure sustainable credit performance. You’ll lead and inspire a high-performing team that thrives under pressure in a fast-paced credit and lending environment.
What you’ll be working on
Credit Function Setup & Risk Management
- Together with our wider Zego teams, design and implement Zego’s credit framework, including policies, procedures, and governance.
- Develop credit approval, monitoring, and collections processes aligned with regulatory standards.
- Define credit risk appetite and implement metrics, reporting, and early-warning systems.
- Partner with Data/Analytics teams to build credit scoring models and decisioning frameworks.
Operational Excellence & Strategic Leadership
- Establish workflows for financing, installment plans, and any lending-related products.
- Oversee third-party providers or partners in credit operations.
- Work with senior leadership to shape Zego’s credit strategy and ensure alignment with company growth objectives.
- Provide input on product design to ensure lending and financing offerings are commercially viable and low-risk.
Team Building
- Build and lead a high-performing credit and collections team, setting clear goals, KPIs, and accountability frameworks.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning within the credit function.
What you’ll need to be successful
- You’ll come from credit risk management, lending, or financial services roles.
- You’ll have a background in setting up or scaling a credit and function, ideally within consumer lending.
- Able to balance risk management with commercial growth opportunities.
- You’ll demonstrate strong knowledge of credit risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- You’ll be an inspirational people manager and a strong stakeholder to the business.
- Professional courses like CICM or proven credit experience are valued.
- Compliance training (KYC, AML, GDPR, treating customers fairly).

Our hybrid way of working is unique. We foster a flexible approach that empowers every Zegon to perform at their best. We ask you to spend at least one day a week in our central London or Halifax office. Every team has the flexibility to choose the day that works best for them. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year), and also provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards other travel costs. We think it's a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve the right balance between work and life.
