Under supervision of facilities supervisor and foreman, perform the application/preparation of paints, enamels, acrylics, stains, and lacquers to finish and protect interior and exterior surfaces of fixtures, buildings, and other structures using hand brushing and power-driven painting equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license with driving record that meets District requirements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of painting
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Working knowledge of paint booth and MSDS procedures
- Working knowledge of drywall application, finishing and repairs
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in painting residential/commercial buildings
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: - Consists of, but not limited to, mixing of colors of paint, applying proper primers and paint to all kinds of surfaces for painting by brush, roller and spray.
- Prepare paint to match specified colors by mixing with appropriate equipment.
- Repair surfaces by filling holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other material.
- Smooth surfaces following repairs using sandpaper and power sanders.
- Tape, bed, and texture dry wall materials. Install vinyl and other wall covering fabrics.
- Clean and maintain various painting equipment after each use; clean work area following job completion.
- Is willing to accept responsibility.
- Responsible for being punctual in arriving at work and in performing all work in a good workmanship-like manner.
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete reports and records regarding utilization of supplies and materials in the performance of services.
- Follows administrative procedures regarding work orders.
- Responsible for proper and efficient use of all district equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.
- Will make continuous efforts following district vision, values & goals for self-improvement.
- Works harmoniously with all district personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or foreman.
- Conform to all state laws and district policies regarding vehicle operation and seat belt policy whether as driver or passenger in a district vehicle. Notify supervisors of any accident or injury in a timely manner.
- Conform to all district policies as outlined in the employee handbook.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate (verbally, written and electronically), understands verbal and written directions and works with minimal supervision.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district wide travel; occasional irregular hours; strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying; work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
