Location: Central High Position: 12 months 8 hours Status: Non-Exempt 9 Open Date: 10/9/2025 Closing Date: 10/19/2025 Hours: 6:00 am–2:30 pm
Essential Job Functions: Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Generalist will perform preventive and corrective maintenance as well as installations in the fields of plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and HVAC at assigned district buildings as required. Assignments include working on low to medium voltage systems and equipment, repair and/or installation of fire alarm systems, intercom systems, security alarm systems, optional standby power generators, emergency lighting, timers, photo controls, exhaust fans and motors, 110 and 277-volt circuits, repair and/or installation of other related equipment.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age and a high school graduate
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ progressive experience in facilities maintenance with an emphasis on work in the electrical/HVAC field or has attended or is currently enrolled in an accredited trade school in related craft
Possess or able to obtain minimum Missouri Class E driver’s license or equivalent
Must be able to prioritize duties in a changing environment and meet deadlines
Ability to assume full ownership responsibility and have a strong customer service orientation
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, including sewer-cleaning equipment, carpentry/wood working equipment, electrical equipment and electrical measuring, tracing and test instruments
Must be able to lift 70 pounds on a regular basis and able to stand or walk for long periods of time
Ability to follow instructions and interpret shop type drawings and blueprints
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to diverse groups of people
Maintain punctuality and regular attendance
Self-motivated and able to work overtime if needed
Ability to physically move throughout the District buildings and campuses
Must be able to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, for all job-related duties and response to safety emergencies
Able to pass a thorough background investigation, physical, and drug test
