Improving national security and resiliency is an increasing priority for governments globally. Lenovo is seeking a Senior Manager of Government Relations National Security Analyst help advance national security and resiliency both within Lenovo and across the ecosystem. The Senior Manager will engage with public and private sector stakeholders in the U.S. and internationally as well as collaborate internally with product groups to understand and help drive Lenovo’s security investments and prepare business groups for forthcoming security regulation.The Senior Manager should have experience in strategy development, including by recognizing major drivers and trends, forecasting and prioritizing issues, identifying challenges and opportunities, and work closely with Legal, public sector and engineering groups on proposed and emerging policies (e.g., executive authorities, legislation, regulation). This will be based in Washington D.C. and may require travel within the U.S. and internationally.The position will reporting to the Director, Government Relations, North America, and the incumbent will closely interact with business leaders, finance team, Lenovo’s North America and global Legal team and will have several direct reports involved in policy review and government outreach.Job Responsibilities: Engage on a wide variety of national security policies and initiatives in the U.S. and internationallyDevelop and deliver cross-company, globally applicable policy positions on national security as well as strategies to help advance positions in the U.S. and internationallyRepresent Lenovo in industry fora and public private partnerships focused on national security.Help assess and create internal awareness of national security regulation and implications for LenovoAdvocate for, and manages, policy issues (e.g., social, political, technical), and leads the company’s engagement and campaign with senior internal stakeholders related to government affairs on priority issues, strategies, and/or programsContribute to, and develops policy agenda and/or advocacy strategies for top priorities.Respond to key strategic issues and recommends well thought-out actions by prioritizing, ensuring alignment with stakeholder positions, leveraging specialists, or escalating mattersManage affairs in rapidly changing and ambiguous political, policy, and industry environmentsDevelop strategies for multiple regulatory and/or legislative initiatives by serving as a subject matter expert on regulatory and/or legislative issues to assess their impact on Lenovo goals and objectives; delivers materials (e.g., strategy, policy briefings, other documentation) to internal stakeholders.Build and maintains an ongoing network and coalition with complex governmental and non-governmental stakeholders (e.g., peer and industry organizations, think tanks, academics, businesses, community leaders) Basic Qualifications: 12+ years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public/technology policy priorities5+ years of experience working on national security and/or within the technology policy spaceBachelor’s degrees in: Public relations, communication, political sciences, public affairs, law, business, economics. marketing, journalism, business/commerce, history, geography, or similarDeep experience collaborating with engineering groups and/or government officialsPreferred Qualifications: Expertise in developing written materials and/or delivering content about security or technology policy issuesAbility to incorporate different perspectives and collaborateDeep sense of commitment and drive to address complex challenges, individually and as part of a teamAptitude for learning, understanding, discussing, and representing industry and corporate policy positions for technologies and practices that are constantly changingA vast understanding of the North America technology market ideally in the areas of the laptop / IT hardware /mobile phones / cloud computing;Keen understanding of the North American political system, environment and institutions, as well as cultural landscape;Solid network with the North American policy makers, the academia, and a working knowledge of the technology industry;Experience with other North America government/policy schemes;Interest in emerging technologies and policy work;Outstanding judgment, persuasive and advocacy skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment;Strong collaboration skills, drive for results, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence;Experience in Government or diplomatic sector.The base salary budgeted range for this position is $180k-200K USD.
