To assist the Kindergarten teacher in preparation and management of the general daily classroom activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED
Texas Educational Aide Certificate
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Ability to work well with children and exhibit effective working relationships with staff and school community
Ability to communicate effectively

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist in small group pupil instruction, tutor pupils at teacher’s request.
Join with teacher to maintain discipline and other non- instructional functions.
Collaborate with teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
Assemble materials on bulletin boards and keep displays current.
Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.
Escort children to and from various rooms.
Assist teacher in attendance reports and related clerical functions.
Supervise students when teacher is temporarily out of the room.
Assist teacher by providing additional help and services to at-risk students.
Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:
Reading and interpreting documents, writing routine reports and correspondence, and speaking effectively to members of the school community.
Applying common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Dealing with problems involving several concrete
variables in standardized situations.
Physical demands/environmental factors:
Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 lbs.
Standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
Climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Noise level is usually loud at a standard acceptable level for this
environment.
