Job Summary
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
The RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team caring for patients undergoing procedures or exams in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) and/or Cardiology Department at any site. The RN carries out established nursing procedures to prepare patients prior to Radiologic procedures, during the procedure, and following the procedure. The RN assists with the management of patient care during moderate sedation and anesthesia cases.
The Cardiac Cath Lab department requires a dedicated professional who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Minimum of 3-5 years combined experience in PACU, ICU, CCU, with minimum 1year Cath Lab experience.
- Possess the knowledge of both diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures, which include equipment, accessories, surgical procedures, sterile technique, patient care.
- One (1) year of directly relatable RN employment experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology lab, Interventional Radiology (IR) or Cardiac Catheterization lab.
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in nursing or equivalent professional experience, one of which is a year of recent experience in critical care with demonstrated knowledge of homodynamic monitoring.
- Participate in on-call and late stay shifts as required.
- Ability to provide education to patients based on plan of care, procedural guidelines, and University standards.
- Provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization lab and Cardiology Department during all phases of the patient care experience (pre procedural, intraprocedural, and post procedural).
- The ability to wear a lead apron required in Interventional Radiology and Neuro Interventional Radiology or Diagnostic Radiology.
- Monitor patient conditions and vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous RN experience with Pre and Post Procedure Care of Adult Interventional Cardiology patients.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- RCIS and/or RCES certification.
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
