Summary
Attend injection-molding machines by inspecting, weighing, counting, packaging, and stacking parts ensuring adherence to safety and keeping area clean and organized.
Primary Responsibilities
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with superiors and co-workers in a team environment
- Complete all quality attribute inspections on a timely basis (visual/dimensional – Every 2 hours and sign the paperwork) and report any non-conformances or machine malfunctions immediately
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Handover the work area clean, and organized with machines caught up to the next shift team member
- Clean the floor and the machines during the shift (when required) and at the end of every shift
- Give a status update on machines/products/parts to the next shift machine operator
- Ensure that there is enough material supply for machine usage; Insert the vacuum hose on the side with most material and in the fully loaded Gaylord
- Empty the trash bins at the end of the shift and put it in the dumpster
- Follow all packaging procedures and provide sufficient packaging materials for the next shift; put the labels in the assigned area (straight) on the box
- Accurately count/weigh parts for correct packaging
- Accurately record production quantities and downtime codes for all machines attended/operated
- Package all parts and build pallet quantities according to job specifications
- Maintain or exceed production and quality performance requirements
- Ensure inspection of parts (visual quality check) before packing the parts
- Remove excess flashing, burrs, and gate connections from all parts in a manner consistent with quality standards (Trim, Wipe and Cut sprue parallel to the product)
- Attend/operate all assigned molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and hand tools in an efficient and safe manner
- Remove material from injection unit every five cycle (pre-purge)
- Put gaskets as required and instructed
- Put employee initials or labels “100 inspected by…” inside the box
- Label gasket parts with “100% inspected by…”
- Perform minor machine and mold maintenance (e.g. cleaning, remove blockages, lubrication, repair minor for water or hydraulic leaks)
- Trouble-shoot minor process problems and make corrections; communicate more complex problems to Process Technician/Shift lead; continuously advance knowledge of the process, machines and molds.
- Properly separate burned material from non-burned/good material
- Separate non-conforming products and materials for recycling
- Responsible to handle 4 or more machines
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage if required and trained.
- Stock materials needed at all machines
- Replenish boxes, tape at all machines
- Set out production logs and labels at all machines [MA1]
- Other duties as assigned
Position Specifications and Requirements
- Bi-lingual would be a plus
- Three (3) months of production/machine operator experience would be ideal not a requirement.
- Ability to discriminate between acceptable and unacceptable part; dimensional or visual characteristics
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, a certificate of training beyond high school is preferred
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions
- Proficient to excellent problem-solving skills
- Basic math skills
