Key Responsibilities / Duties
Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, buff, and maintain all flooring
Vacuum carpets, rugs, mats, and entrance areas
Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, lunchrooms, and common areas
Empty, clean, and line trash, recycling, and waste receptacles
Remove and clean spills, debris, and hazards in corridors, stairwells, and work areas
Clean glass surfaces, windows, doors, walls, partitions, and ledges
Dust, wipe down, and clean furniture, fixtures, light covers, vents, and ledges
Maintain custodial closets: stock supplies, organize tools, keep equipment in good condition
Report maintenance or repair needs (e.g. broken plumbing, lighting, HVAC issues, structural damage)
Complete required cleaning checklists or logs, documenting work performed
Participate in emergency cleanup (e.g. spills, leaks) when needed
Follow safety, environmental, and chemical handling protocols (e.g. MSDS, PPE)
Use and maintain cleaning equipment and tools (buffers, floor machines, vacuums, etc.)
Cooperate with other shifts, maintenance, and production teams to coordinate tasks
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Ability to read, write, and follow instructions, checklists, and safety procedures
Basic math, communication, and listening skills
Dependability, good attendance, and ability to work overnight hours independently
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (or more with assistance), bend, stoop, kneel, push/pull, reach, and stand for long periods
Ability to use cleaning tools, equipment (buffers, vacuums, floor scrubbers)
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and safety practices
Ability to work safely and follow company safety rules
Preferred / Desirable:
Previous custodial, janitorial, or industrial cleaning experience
Experience working in a manufacturing, plant, or industrial facility
Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
Willingness to cross-train in related tasks
Familiarity with industrial facility layout, safety zones, and clean zones
Working Conditions
Overnight / third shift work
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, dust, fumes, and moderate noise
Work indoors in areas with varying temperatures
Use of chemical PPE (gloves, goggles, masks)
Frequent walking, bending, lifting, reaching
Occasional overtime work required
Performance Criteria
Timely completion of nightly cleaning tasks in assigned zones
Meeting quality, safety, and cleanliness standards
Adherence to cleaning checklists and logs
Minimal rework or complaints from day-shift staff
Safe work practices (no lost-time accidents, proper chemical handling)
Proper care of cleaning equipment and supplies
