The Role
We are looking for an experienced and autonomous Legal Counsel to join BTG Pactual Europe's spanish branch, on a full-time and permanent basis. You will play a central role in supporting the bank’s operations, advising on regulatory, transactional, and banking matters while coordinating with business and supporting teams, local and global, and local regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out legal analysis of the products and services to be offered by the company in Spain
- Discuss and hire external lawyers in Spain to assist in the analysis of said products and services
- Control expenses and ensure the efficient use of resources when hiring external lawyers
- Act in working with the Compliance team in relation to Spanish regulatory aspects and reporting to the regulatory team in Brazil on interactions with the Spanish regulator.
Profile
- Local Law degree and Admission in Spain.
- Range between 3 - 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Master of Laws or equivalent, a plus.
- Admission to another EU jurisdiction or abroad, a plus.
- Strong background in credit and financing transactions, with proven knowledge of the local market, required.
- Some experience in insolvency and restructuring matters, banking products and services, capital markets, and insurance, a plus.
- Experience in an international law firm or cross-jurisdictional environment, a plus.
- Autonomous and capable of managing files independently, but with duly coordination with the Europe Legal Team and Legal Head.
- Strong team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and very fast-paced business demands.
Languages
- Fluency in English required.
- Proficiency in Portuguese, a plus.
