THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Regional CDL-A Route Driver is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle and requires compliance with safety, DOT, and FMCSA Regulations while transporting materials and merchandise to our branches. Individuals must have a valid Commercial Driver's License Class-A Endorsement (CDL-A).
- Salary plus full benefits package of medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401k retirement plan, 7 company holidays and 2 flexible holidays.
- Regional – Full time position includes 2 days out, 1 night in, 2 days out again and then 2 (two) consecutive days off depending on specific route. (Either Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon)
- Truck will be a 2020+ Freightliner Cascadia, with air-conditioned sleeper cab and 53’ dry trailer.
- Touching of freight to load/unload at dock level using pallet jack or dolly is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely and efficiently, drive vehicle along predetermined regional route delivering products at various branches and distribution centers along route.
- Maintain delivery times as scheduled while maximizing hours of service 11/14 daily clocks.
- Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight while using pallet jack in a safe and proper manner.
- Complete reports for pre-trip & post-trip inspections of both truck and trailer. Report any safety or operational findings to fleet manager.
- Adhere to all applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines in addition to all other company policies.
- Stop for maintenance, service or repair of truck and/or trailer as required for safe operation of vehicle.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid CDL-A (Commercial Drivers License; Class A)
- 5 years of previous driving history and verifiable previous employment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving in cold weather, preferably Northeast routes.
- Knowledge of intercity limit DOT regulation laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures.
- Successfully complete a DOT Road Test and skills test prior to start of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to use a pallet jack or operate a tow motor would be preferred.
- Previous experience using Electronic Logging Device (E-Log) and maintaining accurate records and logs, while detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards.
- 36 months of driving history, with no more than one (1) at fault accident and one (1) moving violation documented.
- Provide verifiable Previous Employment from previous employers for the last 3 years.
