Position Summary:

DG Foods is currently looking for Parts Clerk for its Hazlehurst facility.  The position is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for the smooth operation of the poultry processing and portioning plant. This includes ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing parts to maintenance and production personnel, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, and supporting maintenance operations to minimize equipment downtime. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Job duties are as follows, but not limited to: 

  • Maintain accurate records of parts inventory using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or inventory software.
  • Receive incoming parts, verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect for damage or discrepancies.
  • Organize and label parts in a clean, safe, and efficient storage area (stockroom).
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate reorders to maintain adequate supplies without overstocking.
  • Issue parts and tools to maintenance and production personnel based on work orders or requests.
  • Assist with cycle counts and periodic physical inventory checks to reconcile records.
  • Communicate with suppliers to track orders, resolve discrepancies, and request quotes.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance with internal and regulatory standards (e.g., HACCP, OSHA).
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure parts availability for scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of parts room and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Support equipment warranty tracking and return of defective or unused parts.
  • Assist in developing and improving parts management procedures and systems.
  • May be assigned various other duties or projects as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in inventory or stockroom operations, preferably in an industrial, food processing, or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have the ability to learn and process information in a timely manner
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or CMMS software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to food safety, workplace safety, and cleanliness
  • Must be able to work in a cooler (sometimes as low as 28 degrees)
  • Experience in a poultry or meat processing facility
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic parts terminology. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work in a cold and wet environment.
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
