Scan Shipping is seeking a driven, hands-on Branch Manager to lead our New Jersey office into its next stage of growth. This is a high-impact leadership role for a motivated professional who is ready to inspire, innovate, and make things happen.

The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, operationally strong, and people-focused someone who can handle files and quotes, manage customer relationships, and lead a small but talented team to new levels of success. You will report directly to the USA Regional Director and be empowered to make smart decisions that drive performance, compliance, and profitability.

This position is not about maintaining the status quo it’s about taking a solid foundation and building it stronger, with a clear focus on growth, accountability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the NJ branch team (currently 4 employees) with a focus on performance, accountability, and growth.

  • Oversee all Air and Ocean, Import and Export operations to ensure service excellence, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Take a “whatever it takes” approach to stabilize and strengthen the branch including hands-on work with files, quotes, and customer coordination when needed.

  • Drive commercial development through new business generation, client retention, and collaboration with Scan Shipping offices worldwide.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, structure, customer onboarding and profitability.

  • Ensure month-end closing is completed accurately and on time, including preparing and submitting all necessary figures, accruals, and estimates to Finance for monthly P&L reporting.

  • Oversee FMC and IATA compliance for the branch, ensuring all regulations, certifications, and documentation requirements are strictly adhered to.

  • Maintain strong communication with headquarters, customers, and carriers to support continuous improvement and operational transparency.

  • Represent and uphold Scan Shipping’s boutique culture offering personalized, flexible, and high-quality logistics solutions.

  • Report directly to the USA Regional Director on performance, results, and strategic initiatives.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding with strong operational knowledge of Air & Ocean, Import & Export.

Proven leadership experience managing teams or branch operations.

Strong understanding of P&L management, month-end closing processes, and financial reporting.

Hands-on operational knowledge able to step in and manage files, quotes, and customer communication directly.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Commercially oriented, results-driven, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with FMC and IATA compliance regulations and documentation.

Process-driven, adaptable, and tech-savvy, with a continuous-improvement mindset.

Legally authorized to work in the United States.
