The Restorative Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the facility’s restorative nursing program to help residents maintain or improve their highest practicable level of function and independence. This role involves assessing resident needs, developing individualized restorative care plans, training and supervising restorative aides, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor restorative nursing programs based on resident assessments and care plans.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including therapy and nursing staff, to identify residents appropriate for restorative services.

Supervise and train restorative nursing assistants (RNAs) and other staff in restorative techniques and documentation requirements.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of restorative programs, progress notes, and outcomes in the medical record.

Observe, evaluate, and report residents’ responses to restorative interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary.

Participate in care plan meetings, providing input on resident progress and needs.

Conduct ongoing audits of restorative programs to ensure compliance with facility policies, state, and federal regulations.

Educate staff on techniques that promote resident mobility, self-care, continence, and overall independence.

Act as a liaison between therapy services and nursing staff to ensure continuity of restorative care.

Maintain knowledge of current restorative practices, regulations, and standards of care.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, in good standing, in the state of practice. RN preferred.

Previous experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or restorative nursing preferred.

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
