CARPENTER (FACILITIES & GROUNDS)

Reports To:  Facilities & Grounds Manager 

Department:  Facilities   

Status:  Seasonal/Full-Time (with potential for Year-Round/Full-Time employment)


POSITION SUMMARY:  

This position works with the facilities maintenance staff. The Facilities & Grounds technician assists the Manager with basic facility maintenance including cleanliness, safety, and organization of buildings and parking lots at Granby Ranch. The Facilities and Grounds technician will work directly with the Maintenance manager on repairs to the building, structures and new construction. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Indoor Maintenance – minor repairs including but not limited to plumbing, toilets, doors, windows, floors, trash receptacles, light bulbs, trash and recycling collections, vacuuming, and other indoor cleaning and maintenance items.  
  • Outdoor Maintenance – general maintenance of decks, walkways, patios, lawn & flower beds, parking lots, trash and recycling receptacles; includes snow and ice removal, gravel and ice melt application and removal, basic irrigation knowledge, holiday lights and decor.  
  • Employee Housing - repairs and maintenance; remodeling as needed.
  • Parking Lots – utilizes staff, cones, ropes, signage, fencing as necessary to maximize parking capacity during high volume days.  
  • Events – assists with execution of weddings and events including outdoor and indoor set up on patios, lawn, top of chair lift etc. 
  • Managing one's own time, with the ability to independently complete tasks.  

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other departments and staff members, aiding and supporting as needed.  
  • Communicate and work with F&B and Sales/Events team members for effective execution of special events, parties, weddings and onsite events. 
  • Pride in your work and building appearance.  
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Requirements

 SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of hand tool use and safety.  
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance with the ability to enhance knowledge with research.  
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, professional, and helpful attitude to all guests and fellow employees. 
  • Willing, dependable, and able to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.  
  • Ability to solve problems and conflict in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner. 
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance industry.  
  • Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Background in construction is highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) lbs.  
  • Walking, bending, carrying, lifting, reaching, kneeling, shoveling, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders.  
  • Work in variable weather conditions including cold, icy, and winter conditions.  
  • Some 50+ hour work weeks, particularly during holiday periods.  
  • Must be able to stand and walk for an entire shift.
