TITLE: Associate Director, Head of Latin America Liability Management

DUTIES: Scotia Capital (USA), Inc. seeks Associate Director, Head of Latin America Liability Management in New York, NY to build Scotiabank’s Liability Management product in Latin America to advise our clients. Direct client responsibility for advising, structuring, and executing LM transactions on behalf of Scotia’s clients globally. Understand the legal, regulatory, accounting, and tax implications of potential transactions across jurisdictions and advise clients appropriately. Responsible for the structuring, documentation preparation advisory, marketing, and execution of originated transactions. Assist in managing and developing junior resources, strategic planning and capacity building, as well as carrying out specific projects such as building institutional knowledge of the Liability Management product at various seniority levels and across specialist teams. Work in conjunction with the Debt Capital Market, Equity Capital Markets, Derivatives, Sustainable Finance, Investment Banking and Syndicate teams, as well as the local Corporate Banking teams abroad. Develop new ideas, products and solutions for clients, including research of relevant regulatory, accounting, tax, rating agency and market developments. Adapt to a constantly evolving business and market environment, constantly generating strategic advice for issuer clients as markets evolve. Develop strategic relationships with market participants including pension funds, mutual funds, insurance, regulators, lawyers, other financial institutions in the local and international debt capital markets. Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, its code of conduct and the global sales principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: working in financial industry including debt capital markets sector; working with Liability Management products; utilizing experience in corporate finance and fixed income mathematics; helping in corporate, sovereign and financial institution clients advisory; performing liability management practices in international markets including Tender Offers executed for Sovereigns, Financial Institutions and Corporates. 50% travel required internationally. Fluency in Spanish required. Offered salary is between $275,000 and $275,000 per year. 40 hours per week.
