1:1 School Nurse - 2025/2025
Description:
The 1:1 School Nurse provides individualized healthcare support to a student with specific
medical needs riding the bus with the student to and from
school as indicated. This role ensures the student’s health, safety, and well-being, enabling full
participation in educational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create an individualized health care plan and seizure action plan that clearly outlines the
student’s medical diagnosis and medical needs.
2. Attend school/bus transportation with the student
3. Deliver direct nursing care to the assigned student based on their specific health plan and
medical needs.
4. Monitor and manage chronic conditions, including seizure disorder, as required.
5. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school
policies.
6. Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation.
7. Collaborate with teachers, parents, healthcare providers, and school staff to support the
student’s health.
8. Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
9. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding student health.
10. Maintains current LPN/RN licensure and CPR certification.
11. Communicate openly and effectively with the student’s caregiver/guardian(s)

Compensation:
In accordance with the Burlington Educators' Association Unit A contract at $40 per hour.
