Full Time Bus Driver & Custodian at Suttons Bay Public Schools

Suttons Bay Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Custodian & Bus Driver to join our team. This dual-role position requires a hard-working, self-motivated person with a positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. Training will be provided, and the district will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL license, including the required endorsements.

Custodian Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning (dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restocking supplies, etc.).
• Maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empty trash and ensure proper disposal.
• Secure school facilities after cleaning.
• Report maintenance needs and concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Bus Driver Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-trip inspections and address maintenance concerns.
• Fuel and clean the bus as needed.
• Assist students with seating, assistive devices, and safety concerns.
• Provide direction to bus aides and manage student behavior.
• Communicate with teachers, families, and students.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a background check and MDE physical (annually).
• Must obtain a CDL with B, P, and S classification and Air Brake endorsements (district covers cost).
• Must meet Michigan Department of Education and DOT requirements for driving performance and drug/alcohol testing.

Position Details:

• Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:45am - 12pm and 1:30pm-4:15pm (approximately)
