Summary
Maverick is seeking an experienced Telecom Lead Lineman to join our growing telecom construction team. In this critical leadership role, you will lead a 2-person crew in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead fiber and coaxial telecommunications lines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerial telecom construction, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency on every job. Must be willing to work throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia or other states as projects require and be deployed for up to 3 weeks at a time.
Responsibilities
- Mount, install, secure, and repair aerial telecom cables (fiber and coaxial)
- Ensure accurate placement and proper tensioning of cables to meet safety standards
- Install and maintain support structures (poles, anchors, braces)
- Direct a 2-person crew and provide training, mentoring, and oversight
- Conduct job site safety assessments and enforce all OSHA, company, and industry safety regulations
- Operate and maintain aerial lift devices, bucket trucks, and other related tools
- Perform quality inspections to ensure all work meets company and client specifications
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to meet deadlines
- Maintain thorough and accurate job records and reports
- All other tasks as assigned by management.
Skills & Abilities
- Very organized, and able provide a good paper trail.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and leadership skills
- High degree of professionalism and interpersonal communication
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required, technical certifications or industry-specific training preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a lineman; 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role preferred
- Strong knowledge of aerial telecom construction practices
- Proficiency with fiber optic and coaxial cable types, construction methods, and testing procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, HFC maps, and fiber schematics
- Pass pre-employment drug & background screens
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularly
- Able to climb ladders and poles up to 60 feet and work at heights
- Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and twisting for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round
- Must be able to wear required PPE including safety boots, glasses, hardhat, harnesses, etc.
- May include work near busy roads and highways
- Noise level may be moderate to high, depending on equipment used
