The Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in dining dishwashing areas and assisting with the cleaning of dining rooms and other designated service areas. This position organizes the dishwashing area and ensures that proper sanitation procedures are consistently followed.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Position Duties

  • Operate and monitor dish machines before, during, and after mealtimes to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of dishes, flatware, and cookware.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish room and related equipment.

  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for all dining service areas, which may include: Main Refectory, Sexton Commons, Monastery, Seminary, Health Center, Student Dining Rooms, kitchens, production areas, and restrooms.

  • Restock service and production areas with clean equipment and supplies as needed.

  • Support recycling program by sorting materials and ensuring procedures are followed.

  • Assist in training and providing feedback to part-time staff.

  • Lock and secure kitchen and dining service areas as assigned.

  • Maintain a clean uniform and practice proper sanitation and safe work habits.

  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous custodial or dish room experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with culinary staff and student employees.

  • Willingness to learn proper use of cleaning chemicals and products.

  • Ability to work five days per week, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and smaller amounts frequently.

  • Frequent pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, bending, and stooping.

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Occasional exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold environments).

  • Frequent exposure to cleaning and sanitizing solutions; must be able to use single-use and reusable gloves as required.
