Position Summary
The Production Manager is a member of the Stampede Programming Department and is responsible for carrying out the functions associated with providing the best entertainment experience for guests and stakeholders, with a focus on our Music Stages (Coca-Cola Stage, Nashville North, Big Four Roadhouse).
Reporting to the Director of Programming, for the interim, the Programming Production Manager will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and fulfillment requirements for Programming’s music attractions.

Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with consultants to ensure the highest quality of entertainment and music bookings and execution.
- Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction through the hiring of appropriate, engaging and quality entertainment.
- Generate comprehensive plans for music-related programming to support strategic and financial objectives for the organization and attract audiences (free and ticketed) to music stage across the 10 day Stampede period.
- Project coordination – establishing timelines, gathering required approvals, ensuring deliverables, identify staffing and support needs for the relevant portfolio, and establishing program teams to fulfill program requirements.
- Accurately manage all project budgets assigned to the Coca-Cola Stage, Nashville North and Big Four Roadhouse, including the planning of expenses, tracking of expenses and revenue, and reporting on these budgets post event and year around, ensuring the needs and status of these budgets are communicated to the department manager consistently.
- Collaborate with organizational departments, supporting the development of Stampede’s entertainment programming strategy, actively informing the organization of the attractions’ needs for venue and park development strategies.
- Support the negotiations with musician and entertainer contracts and complete agreements with contractors.
- Development, review and implementation of artists’ hospitality and technical riders.
- Management & disbursement of production and artist financial advances.
- Liaise with performers, staff, site operations, FOH management, stage labour, OH&S staff, security, production designers and suppliers, and transportation suppliers.
- Ensure that labour agreements are correctly adhered to.
- Manage 10-day Stampede music entertainment support staff.
- Stage production – development & management of technical stage production schedules, including but not limited to artist load-in, sound check, performance and load-out. On-site supervision of production & execution of stages.
- Understanding SOCAN requirements
- Develop and foster relationships with suppliers, vendors and contractors.
- Support the research, planning and recommendations for park development projects related to the music attractions offerings including advising on industry standards, trends and presentation requirements for new and developing programmable spaces.
- Represent the Calgary Stampede at regional, national and international events, as required.
- Attend board committee meetings and related activities, as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Post-secondary Diploma or Associate Degree in Event Management, Fine Arts, Business Management or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Live Music entertainment industry with exposure to sourcing, contract negotiations, logistics, scheduling, project management, guest experience design, booking, show direction and operations.
- Exceptional communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and database applications.
- Customer service oriented.
- Courteous, people-person with a professional manner and an ability to function effectively in group situations.
- Full comprehension of event safety.
- Awareness of industry associations and unions.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with volunteers as asset.
- Understanding of the festival industry an asset.
