Title: Youth Development Professional Lead

Education: High School Diploma, some college (focus on childhood education) preferred

Reports to: Unit Director

Work Schedule: Morning, Afternoon, After School Release – 6pm, hours as scheduled during school breaks

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Job Summary: 

The YDP-Lead reports directly to the Unit Director and serves as the daily on-site leader, working in close partnership with the Unit Director to support the effective operation of the assigned Boys & Girls Club (BGC) site. This role ensures the safety, engagement, and development of members, providing direct supervision and guidance to staff while fostering positive relationships with parents, school personnel, and the community. The YDP-Lead actively collaborates to plan, promote, and implement high-quality programming aligned with BGC policies, procedures, and philosophies.

Responsibility Overview:

· Oversee and ensure the sign-in sheet is available and utilized at the start of each day.

· Open the site location daily and ensure it is prepared for operations.

· Serve as the on-site leader, assuming responsibility for the site in the Unit Director’s absence.

· Maintain a safe and secure environment for all members by adhering to and enforcing Boys & Girls Club (BGC) safety procedures.

· Demonstrate a strong understanding of BGC philosophy, activities, calendars, and special events, and communicate them effectively.

· Stay up to date on and enforce all BGC policies and procedures while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor.

· Work assigned hours, Monday through Friday, as scheduled.

· Collaborate with other Club staff to coordinate activities and programs that align with the overall mission of the Club.

· Supervise members to ensure their safety, engagement, and adherence to Club rules.

· Conduct daily programs designed to engage and increase youth participation across all areas.

· Collaborate with teachers to provide additional support for members needing assistance in specific academic areas.

· Plan, implement, and prominently display weekly program activity schedules for assigned programs.

· Maintain and update assigned bulletin boards weekly to reflect current activities and achievements.

· Provide support in managing member behavior, encouraging positive conduct, and addressing challenges constructively.

· Complete weekly evaluations for all programs conducted, documenting their effectiveness and areas for improvement.

· Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization in designated rooms and program areas.

· Promptly report hazards, concerns, and issues to the Unit Director or Manager of Enrichment Sites.

· Perform additional duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by the administrator or supervisor.

· Be flexible to work outside scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

· Drive Club vehicles, such as regular passenger vans, when required for program needs.

· Commitment to learning and embodying the mission, language, and goals of the organization.

· Proficiency in using email, Vision, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), and other necessary programs.

· CPR/First Aid Certification 

· Understanding of Youth Development principles and practices.

· Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance skills related to working with youth.

Relationships:

· Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.

· External: Maintains contact with external community groups, partners and others to publicize the Boys & Girls Clubs of Burbank and Greater East Valley.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
