The Prince George’s County Health Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Program Manager, (Community Developer 4A) grade A27 position, in the Behavioral Health Division.
About the Position
This is a supervisory, professional principal work whereby incumbents perform a variety of assignments in the areas of (1) community liaison/ development/advocacy, or (2) social services among client populations (e.g., youth, older adult, community action, housing development, health, etc.). Incumbents may supervise but must lead subordinate positions. The complexity of major community development work assignments require the use of independent judgment, action, and initiative. Subject to extensive public contact, incumbents conduct a wide range of activities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level position.

The PGCHD works to protect and support the public’s health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.
Position Duties
Performs complex principle professional community development work within a major programmatically section/division in support of higher-level officials. Plans and coordinates the activities of major and complex community development projects or assignments from initial inception to ultimate completion in accordance with local, state and federal codes. Leads staff in implementing BHD programs and ensures staff accountability for tasks/work products. Monitors data captured, providing weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and special report data and information as needed as part of performance measurement. Ensures data are cleaned, formatted, and uploaded into electronic systems. Contributes programmatic information and data to grant reports and proposals in collaboration with Program Chief. Observes HIPAA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in business or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or other field(s). T hree (3) years of progressively responsible professional technical, analytical and developmental work experience with at least one (1) year in a lead/supervisory role.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
Please note there is no equivalency for supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must pass Health Department background check.
- A valid driver's license.
