The Role
The Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Squad is seeking an enthusiastic Network Technician, keen to contribute to saving water for our customers. You enjoy working outdoors, being hands on, love problem solving, care about our customers and can apply innovative solutions. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a high level of initiative and have an enthusiastic attitude to learning, have excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to excel in a team environment.
As a Non-Revenue Water Network Technician, you will be providing operational input and field support to enable the installation of devices for the District Metered Area (DMA) Program, along with performing inspections and investigations into potential NRW event across the network.
You will work closely with the NRW Infrastructure and Performance Specialists as well as the wider NRW Squad to prioritise and action NRW.

Your key responsibilities
DMA Program Duties
Provision of operational input, knowledge and field support across the following areas:
- Provide technical advice during project development, delivery and implementation.
- Liaise with key stakeholders for project updates and input.
- Support planning and execution of complex network changes to minimise customer impact and avoid cancellations.
- Coordinate or perform high-criticality water main shutdowns, including isolation, de-watering and recharging.
NRW Performance Duties
- Conduct reactive field investigations using network data, manual monitoring and operational alerts.
- Use acoustic techniques to detect leaks and verify network integrity, including flowmeter validation, valve operation and zone boundary checks.
- Estimate leakage flow rates and record findings in Maximo to support monthly Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reporting.
- Provide specialised leakage detection advice and support event response planning for District Metered Areas (DMAs).
What we’re looking for
- Full and valid Victorian drivers’ licence – Mandatory
- Knowledge, experience and demonstrated competency in operating a water network
- General knowledge of Maintenance Contracts, including contractual obligations, performance standards, and technical and safety requirements.
- Capability to perform manual field tasks such as operating valves, lifting pit lids (e.g., gatic lids), and handling other equipment, which may involve a moderate level of physical strength and mobility.
- Knowledge, experience and demonstrated competency in Asset Management Systems (Maximo), SCADA Systems (ClearSCADA), G.I.S. (WebMap and GeoMedia) and Customer Metering (CC&B)
- Knowledge of drainage infrastructure and layout.
- Cert III Water Operations or equivalent – Desirable
