About the Memory Care Engagement Director: The Memory Care Engagement Director is responsible for leading, coordinating, and enhancing person-centered care services in the memory care unit. This role serves as the primary non-clinical point person, ensuring residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias receive person-centered, engaging, and dignified care. The position develops individualized service plans (ISPs), completes Uniform Assessment Instruments (UAIs), oversees therapeutic engagement programming, and serves as the main liaison for residents, families, and staff. This is a full-time, 32-hour per week position. Monday through Friday, plus an occasional weekend.

Qualifications of the Memory Care Engagement Director:

• Five years’ experience in the application of therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities in a geriatric environment with a focus on dementia care, preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an activities or health services-related field preferred. ADC or CTRS required.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License; CPR and First Aid certified

Responsibilities of the Memory Care Engagement Director:

• Plans, organizes, evaluates, and delivers person-centered therapeutic activity programs designed to meet the highest practical level, utilizing all dimensions of wellness.
• Collaborates with the Life Enrichment Manager in planning and execution of resident activities with a primary focus of promoting person-centered programming based on the individual’s physical and cognitive abilities
• Completes UAI’s and ISPs with timely updates to reflect residents’ needs and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. Ensures compliance with Virginia DSS regulations, licensing standards, and community policies.
• Conducts initial activities assessments for admissions to care areas with a focus on the Resident’s life history and activity preferences.
• Serves as primary liaison for families; provides updates, education, and support; acts as dementia care specialist, engaging outside consultants as needed
