Position Overview: The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation management within the organization, including carrier relationship management, rate maintenance, freight operations, invoice processing, and trailer usage agreements. This role requires a strategic approach to continuous improvement, data management, and collaboration with both internal teams and external partners. The Transportation Manager will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing transportation-related expenses, and coordinating operational improvements across various transportation functions. This role will work out of the Dawson, GA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrier Relationship Management
Oversee relationships with key carriers and a comprehensive network of owner-operators.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration with carriers to maintain operational efficiency and service quality.
Rate Maintenance
Manage rate structures for farmer stock, harvest, and seed transportation.
Input and update rate information in the PPS system to ensure accurate and timely rate data.
Freight Location-to-Location Operations
Negotiate and confirm new lanes with brokers as they arise, and renegotiate existing lanes as required.
Maintain and update location-to-location mileage information in the PPS system.
Invoice Management
Facilitate resolution of invoicing gaps between buying points and brokers.
Troubleshoot invoicing issues, offering solutions to improve accuracy and reduce discrepancies.
Bail Out Management & Strategic Planning
Track and optimize load numbers, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and the adoption of updated technology.
Coordinate bailouts with shelling plant and buying point key personnel to optimize the shelling network and meet customer demand.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage the carrier scorecard, focusing on planned versus actual performance to improve data quality and operational outcomes.
Oversee the bail-out spreadsheet, comparing year-over-year allocations, planned versus actual spend, and percentage allocations.
Ensure daily updates of the SE Bail Out Spreadsheet and the Pull Plan, and translate data into actionable plans.
Legal & Compliance
Manage trailer usage agreements, particularly for Golden Peanut trailers, including the 10% lease deduction.
Oversee Buying Point Trailer Usage Agreements, primarily for commissioned buying points.
Utilize RMIS for carrier setup, compliance, and organizational requirements.
Address insurance claims and ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements.
Company Trailer Management
Manage the maintenance and billing for Spireon, with a focus on cost-benefit analysis and payback opportunities.
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure trailer compliance and maintenance, including regular preventive maintenance (PM).
Maintain an accurate trailer inventory sheet and organize trailer titles.
Optimize asset allocation by working with the procurement team to evaluate the need for asset additions, removals, or relocations, with the goal of maximizing asset utilization and minimizing excess.
Collaboration with ADM Groups
Work closely with the DOT Compliance team, Truck and Trailer Management, and ADM Trucking personnel to ensure smooth transportation operations.
Collaborate with various ADM teams to align on transportation priorities and operational goals.
Company Truck Management
Oversee the current company truck operations in Blakely, with an eye toward expansion into Ashburn, Dawson, and Headland.
Support sustainability initiatives related to transportation operations.
Transportation Review & Operational Setup
Conduct thorough assessments of transportation flows within plants and buying points to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
Develop process improvements to optimize truck traffic flow and increase operational efficiency.
Foster a “shipper of choice” reputation by exploring opportunities to reduce wait times and enhance service for transportation partners.
ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$70,400.00 - $132,900.00

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
