Job Summary:
The Spring Manufacturing Engineering Co-op project will consist of a main project that provides hands-on experience in manufacturing, engineering, and continuous improvement. Depending on the student’s background and departmental priorities, this project may focus on developing or standardizing production fixtures to improve efficiency and safety, revitalizing manufacturing playbooks and training documentation for clarity and consistency, contributing to programming or automation initiatives that enhance equipment performance or reporting systems, or leading a 6S improvement project around fixture storage and usage to optimize organization and workplace safety. Regardless of the specific project, the co-op will engage in problem solving, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver tangible improvements that support operational excellence.
Location: Streetsboro, OH Headquarters
Responsibilities:
- Support/Lead manufacturing floor improvement projects to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity
- Assist in value engineering tasks to optimize product designs for cost-effectiveness and performance
- Participate in Kaizen events to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze production processes and identify areas for optimization
- Using lean manufacturing principles, streamline workflows and reduce waste on the manufacturing floor
- Conduct time studies and process analyses to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
- Assist in root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts to resolve manufacturing issues
- Document project progress, findings, and recommendations for management review and future reference.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Initiative-taker with the ability to work independently and remain flexible with changing priorities.
- Able to work effectively with cross-function teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering or related engineering field
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Prior Co-op/Intern Experience is a plus
