About Us:

A Staff Scientist position is available immediately in the department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY. The position will support development and growth of the inaugural Division of Brain and Cognitive Health Technology, which will support cutting-edge research on the development, validation, and dissemination of new technologies for cognitive monitoring, neuropsychological assessment, and risk prediction in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.

 

The Division’s scientific portfolio spans digital cognitive assessment, multi-modal data integration, and large-scale clinical and community-based research. The Principal Staff Scientist will provide senior-level scientific and operational leadership, working closely with the Division Director Laura Germine, who is the creator of the TestMyBrain digital research platform and PI of the newly funded Open Measurement Network Initiative for AD/ADRD (NIA U24).

 

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new research division at a major academic medical center, while contributing to large, impactful NIH-funded initiatives focused on innovation and equity in cognitive health.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead and oversee research operations of the Division, including design and execution of scientific studies, supervision of research staff, and quality assurance.
  • Help develop Division-wide strategy and research directions.
  • Drive development of high-impact empirical research articles and other scholarly outputs.
  • Act as a co-investigator on grant applications, including conceptual development, technical writing, and budget preparation.
  • Foster collaborative initiatives with investigators across institutions and disciplines.
  • Oversee implementation of advanced data pipelines, including applications of multi-level modeling, machine learning, and AI for clinical prediction and identification of novel dynamic phenotypes.
QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, epidemiology, or a related discipline; or exceptional candidates with a Master’s degree and significant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cognitive or neuropsychological assessment, longitudinal study design, and advanced data analysis.
  • Strong track record of first-author or senior-author publications in relevant areas.
  • Significant experience in project leadership, staff supervision, and research operations at scale.
  • Familiarity with digital technology for assessment, aging, neurodegenerative disease, or neuropsychiatric populations.
  • Experience with computational and statistical approaches for time series or longitudinal data preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead within interdisciplinary and multi-institutional research environments.
Additional Information:In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below and dependent on academic rank.
