About the Department
Position Duties
- Reviews projects/funding; proposes corrections if identified.
- Analyzes monthly financials, researches questionable balances, proposes corrections.
- Manages interim and annual audit. Manages/oversees special audits.
- Assists with the budget for the Finance Department. Maintains accounting system/chart of accounts/projects in SAP, Trans Track, etc.
- Supervises all aspects of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll; organizes and assigns tasks to others in payroll. Reviews, questions and processes changes in the payroll documentation.
- Supervises all aspects of fare collection. Verifies all revenue coming from fare revenue; establishes schedules for armored car pick up and delivery.
- Collects and compiles cash management data.
- Monitors the collection of GFI data-vs-actual count.
- Reviews, updates and maintains processes and procedures. Writes work instructions for accounting functions.
- Reviews and approves weekly check runs. Processes bank wires to vendors.
- Attends special project committees. Provides feedback, data, as required.
- Measures on a scale the safety performance including rules and regulations compliance and corrective action.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, labor contracts and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring recommendations, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or an equivalent from a four-year college or technical school and six (6) or more years of experience including demonstrated competency in supervision and accounting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with current business operating systems, software and programs.
ABILITY TO:
Effectively supervise, train, develop, evaluate and motivate subordinates; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals, departments, outside agencies, vendors and the employees' labor union.
