Job: (Test) Systems Engineer - SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Location: Tucson, AZ (on-site)
Clearance: Secret (or above)
Pay: $100,000 - $125,000 annually with full Government benefits.
Position Overview
As a Test Systems Engineer, you will coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines to define, design, and document test environment capabilities and requirements. This role demands a systems-thinking mindset — someone who can visualize the big picture while understanding the technical details that drive system-level success.
You’ll play a critical role in how prime hardware is tested at every level (from individual components to full system integration) to ensure performance, robustness, and cost efficiency across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the definition, design, and documentation of test environment architectures and capabilities
Utilize expertise in models, simulations, test beds, prototypes, and hardware integration to ensure end-to-end test coverage
Apply developmental test processes to design, integrate, and validate system-level test equipment
Ensure smooth transition of test systems to production and factory environments
Support hardware verification and validation (V&V) using proven test methodologies and embedded test protocols
Collaborate directly with Department of Defense (DoD) customers and stakeholders on technical requirements and deliverables
Analyze and define specialized capital investment needs to support test development initiatives
Drive affordability improvements through effective cost measurement, built-in-test capabilities, and lifecycle reduction strategies
Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring design integrity and alignment with program objectives
Foster a collaborative engineering culture that emphasizes quality, innovation, and continuous improvement
Required Knowledge & Experience
Hands-on experience in test system design, integration, and lifecycle testing
Strong understanding of hardware-in-the-loop, simulation, and prototyping methodologies
Familiarity with hardware manufacturing processes and embedded test techniques
Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams in complex defense or aerospace environments
Working knowledge of verification/validation processes, test automation, and system-level analysis
Active Secret clearance (or higher) required

OVERVIEW
The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) organization includes all of the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on our client's Test Equipment products. Our engineers are responsible for all elements of the development lifecycle for test including test requirements and test system design. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.
As a Systems Engineer, you are accountable to coordinate across all engineering teams to define, design, and document Test Environment capabilities and requirements. You must be a systems thinker, able to see the “big picture”, and have the in-depth knowledge of development, production, User Operations, and embedded test process and practices. As a Test Systems Engineer, you will define and influence how prime hardware will be tested at every level (from component to All-Up-Round) to ensure robustness and efficiency.
You must demonstrate applied experience and working knowledge of developmental test process, test set-ups and integration, test equipment design with transition to the factory, and verification / validation of product hardware using proven test systems, methodologies, and techniques. Additionally, you must demonstrate the ability to identify and understand technology risks and system design concepts to make critical technical outcomes by understanding impacts to the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize your knowledge of models, simulations, test beds, prototypes, hardware integration, hardware manufacturing, warfighter (User) methodologies, and embedded test protocols to ensure comprehensive lifecycle testing that is both robust and affordable
- Broad customer interaction including Department of Defense (DoD) contract work
- Understand and define specialized capital investment needs
- Intense focus on ‘customer affordability’, by using effective cost measurement techniques
- Drive improvements in product affordability through increased built-in-test capabilities and decreased lifecycle
