As Strategic Procurement Manager, you will be leading the sourcing of various raw materials categories aligned to the engineered materials businesses, by developing strategies to secure high-quality products at the best value, managing supplier relationships and mitigating supply chain risks in alignment with business and financial goals.
Responsibilities:Purpose and Summary of position:
- Develop and communicate comprehensive supply strategies for the assigned portfolio which provide Celanese’s businesses with a competitive advantage in terms of total cost and supply reliability;
- Negotiate contracts for PTMEG, MEG, DMT and other Engineered Materials (EM) raw materials in close cooperation with Celanese’s business teams, legal, manufacturing and technology/T&I. Coordinate the assigned portfolio between NAM and Asia;
- Manage EU, US raw material selection process for the assigned portfolio including qualifying new alternatives;
- Drive the application of consistent contractual terms & conditions for global portfolio and contract manufacturer’s agreements;
- Establish supplier and 3rd party networks which enable access to information about important market trends and competitive position of supply base;
- Communicate internally and lead the resolution of supplier performance issues, and identify/manage improvement opportunities for portfolio;
- Monitor and understand relating to portfolio, the raw material’s life cycle cost, and identify and drive completion of productivity initiatives;
- Review framework agreements relating to portfolio;
- Review EM raw materials supplier performance for quality, on-time delivery, etc. and determine appropriate resolutions where issues arise;
- Support and drive the integration of M&A procurement processes ensuring that supply security and overall sourcing competitiveness is improved for related RM spends.
Skills and Experiences:
- 5 to 7 years of experience ideally in the chemical industry in commercial roles.
- Strong communication skills (written/verbal).
- Proficient business English.
- Ability to successfully lead diverse groups towards a desired outcome through persuasion and influence.
- Proven negotiation/influencing skills.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Must be driven for results and have strong perseverance.
Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Prior commercial experience (preferably in Sales or Procurement).
- Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree.
- MBA.
